Event: Mardi Gras Party!!
Date:February 24, 2009
Description:UPDATE: This just in! There will now be a LIVE auction, along with the silent auction, at this year's Mardi Gras event. Don't miss out on this opportunity to bid on some amazing prizes! Hope to see you all there.

Carnival and Fat Tuesday are fast approaching! So, soon it will be time to come out to party hardy and have some serious Mardi Gras fun while supporting community work on Isla!

This year's Mardi Gras party will be held on Fat Tuesday, February 24th at La Peña downtown. Doors open at 7pm. PEACE Isla Mujeres will be coordinating the benefit again this year with the proceeds of the evening to go towards grants for the Little Yellow School House, La Gloria English School and organizations working with animals on the Island.

It will be an exciting night full of music, dancing, live entertainment and lots of fun! As always there will be a silent auction and we would greatly appreciate donations. If you or someone you know has something that you'd like to contribute to the auction, please contact Kate and Brynn at peaceisla.interns@gmail.com There will be many wonderful items to bid on such as restaurant gift certificates, hotel stays, art, massages, gift baskets and much more!

Tickets are $150 pesos (for beads and entrance) and are available Monday trhu Saturday at the PEACE office (behind Chili Loco's) from 10am-4pm and Andale (Bonnie Hamilton's Boutique) from 4pm-8pm. They will also be available at the door as long as tickets last! So support your community by getting your tickets today and telling all of your friends to do the same! We look forward to seeing you there!

Costumes are welcome… and the funkier the better! Thanks for your support!
Outcome:Thank you to everyone who came out to help make our Mardi Gras 2009 fundraiser such a great success!

This year we had a wonderful party with over 200 friends in attendance, a beautiful venue, a silent and a live auction, live entertainment and, while we are still waiting on a few numbers to come in, our preliminary net profit is over $99,800 pesos (surpassing last year's Mardi Gras net of $67,500pesos)!!

A big thank you to all of the donors, volunteers, entertainers and participants! And a special thanks to Keith Turner for the use of La Peña, Tiffany Lanier and the crew at SunHorse Weddings for bringing in the bar and decorations and to Brynn Clarke and Kate Johnson (PEACE Interns) for all of their hard work and long hours that helped to make this event so successful!!

Please stay tuned for upcoming details on the community grants that we will be able to provide from the proceeds of this great event!
